Longtime cat lovers are well versed in the incredible benefits of a rewarding relationship with a feline companion. However, sometimes the uninitiated may miss the boat on a potentially great pet relationship because they don’t think of cats as the right fit. They’re so loveable we don’t envy the fact that every day is a vacation.
Cats spend every day the way we usually would at the beach—relaxing, napping, sunning, and playing. Living with a creature who embraces a chill pace inspires many cat parents to do the same! They encourage us to take a breather now and then.
Cats are clever.
Cats are so smart they can even be taught to use a human toilet! Cat brains only take up about 0.9 percent of their body mass compared to two percent in the average human, but their brain structure is about 90 percent similar to ours. They have great memories and adapt easily to various environments because they can remember what they’ve learned to protect themselves and survive.
Kitties are relatively clean.
Cats groom themselves and don’t really need baths. Cats like to be clean, which makes them a relatively low maintenance pet. Aside from brushing and nail clipping, cat owners only need to bring their animal to the vet clinic for special dental care for pets, one-time cat spaying or cat neutering, and basic cat vaccinations.
Cats are independent.
Cats don’t need constant attention and are happy to go along at their own speed without supervision. They also handle their own potty and don’t need to be taken for frequent walks. This makes them great pets for those with long work hours who are away most of the day.
They’re just plain funny.
Cats are intensely entertained by nothing more than staring out a window for hours, the many facets of a paper bag on the floor, or anything shiny. Though they are serious creatures, they melt into balls of silliness whenever a favorite toy appears. Cat owners are constantly cracking up over their feline’s antics.
