I grew up in Friendswood, TX with my 3 older brothers.
How long have you been in Frisco?
I moved to the area in 1992 so I have definitely seen the evolution of Frisco, and I am looking forward to what is yet to come.
Describe your job and what you love the most about it?
I have a dream job!! I get to play with dogs and cats all day and help to enrich their lives at home. I have a job that allows me the flexibility to be there for my family and the opportunity to help serve my community.
How did you end up in this career?
I actually went to school to study music therapy. However, during my practicum, one of my patients died and I knew then that I could never handle that in the future, it was too hard! I knew that I somehow wanted to “help the helpless,” and it was a natural transition into dogs and cats once I followed my heart. I started out as a technician in 2000 and worked my way up through the ranks as I trained on the job. I have been the Practice Manager for LazyPaw for several years now, and I am very proud of the team that we have created, LazyPaw is my second family!!
What are your hobbies?
I laughed when I first saw this question because I have had a lot of hobbies over the years but they have all been put on hold. I went back to school the last couple of years for business management and will be taking my CVPM (Certified Veterinary Practice Management) Board exam this winter. I haven’t had time for hobbies. I guess going through training with Elfie is my hobby. She is my Bichon Frise, and she is a year old and training for her therapy certification so she can be with children in the hospital.
What makes your company special?
LazyPaw Animal Hospitals is different than other veterinarians and the things that set us apart make me very proud. We treat patients like we would our own pets, we also develop and foster relationships with the clients/owners so we can prolong their lives and enhance the quality. I have worked for a couple of different veterinarians since I began as a veterinary technician in 2000 and none could compare to the high quality care at LazyPaw.
Tell us about your family.
I have a blast with my family! I have been married for nearly a dozen years to my best friend, Donald, and we have a couple of crazy, adorable little boys. Kindon is 6 ½ years old and is in 1st grade; Logan is 3 and goes to preschool a couple of days a week. They are wild, but I wouldn’t want it any other way. Growing up with 3 older brothers has trained me for this. We also have a dog, 2 cats and a leopard gecko.
